REVIEW: DevilDog - Gochugaru & Ginger

lukeathompson

Gochugaru is the type of pepper traditionally used to make kimchi and is also known as the Korean pepper or Kimchi pepper. It’s said to be mild, and this is a fairly gentle one, although they’ve perked it up a little bit with Birdseyes.

There’s the tamarind right away, so the sauce is tangy and fruity, a deep red in colour, smooth and fluid. I like this a lot.

And I like the design too. Quite simple in many ways but the colour pairings are perfect. This one has the pink and greeny-blue, the other I have here is pink and orange. They’re very well chosen. And even the skull logo doesn’t bother me. It’s a dog’s skull (I guess) with a kind of horn protuberance, but it’s gonzo enough to carry. It’s clean, attractive, distinctive.

I’m almost tempted to put this on my list of favourites.

£6.50 per 150ml / £43.29 per litre
