In 2018 the Sustainable Earth Institute commissioned me and the artist John Kilburn to create a series of books in collaboration with the Sustainable Eel Group to help conservation efforts around the critically endangered European eel.

Using absurd narratives, poetry, pulp fiction, illustration and a series of collaborations, we began to create or inspire new cultural connections between people and eels.

For this we created five publications; a poetry anthology, a novella, an edited and illustrated non-fiction reprint, a book of eellustrations and a book of dubious translations of taxonomic eel names.

As well as the books, John and I have presented our work creatively and academically at events national, international and local, including at the New Networks for Nature event, at the Natural History Museum, the Dutch Church in London, the European Parliament in Brussels and several conferences.
